Aphyosemion (Chroma) Sub-genus
Bitaeniatum
Bivittatum Chromaphyosemion (Aphyosemion subgenus) are killifish found primarily in Nigeria, from the coastal regions of Central-West Africa, from the border between Togo and Ghana to the West, to the mouth of the Ogooue River, in Gabon, in the South-East. Chromaphyosemion thrive in small rivers and streams with thick growths of vegetation in the stream bed and along the banks of the river. Chromaphyosemion killifish require weekly water changes of 25%-50%, pH of 6.6 - 7.4, dH of 4.0 - 10.0, and plenty of aeration for optimum health and spawning conditions. The species of Aphyosemion killifish in the Chromaphyosemion (Chroma) group are: Aph. Chromaphysemions do very well in aquariums of 5 - 10 gallon size. They do best in well planted aquarium, to simulate their native environment. Chromaphosemion are plant spawners and readily can be bred in the aquarium using the mop spawning method.
