Poecilia sphenops
Origin: Central and
northern South America.
Temperament: Peaceful, but should be in aquariums with a little more salt
than most community aquariums.
Feeding: Feed with vegetable-based flakes and algae. Don't clean
algae off back glass as Mollies need the algae for survival. Many plants and some salt in
the water will do the fish good.

Sexing:
Sex can be determined by
the male's modified anal fin (gonopodium), as is true of guppies, platy and swordtails.

Comments: Mollies come in many different color varieties including
sailfins. Definately do much better in aquariums with more seasalt added.
Black mollies are very prone to "Ich" usually because they are put into tanks
with insufficient amounts of salt.
